Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to join our In-Patient Orthopaedic therapy team. The successful candidate will (on completion of the required competencies) be delivering care within the Orthopaedic In-Patient Therapy Team based on the Orthopaedic Unit at Rotherham Hospital. This will include assessment and treatment of elective and trauma patients with a variety of orthopaedic conditions.

This job is full time- 37:30 hours per week, will include late night working and also support the weekend working/ Bank Holiday service.

Applicants must

Possess a relevant foundation degrees or NVQ Level 3 in Diagnostic and Therapeutic Care or equivalent with additional relevant experience
Have a good knowledge and understanding of Orthopaedic conditions and rehabilitation
Have excellent team work skills
Demonstrate good communication skills, including IT literacy
Demonstrate good organisational skills
Be able to use their initiative appropriately
Be able to use a practical approach to problem solving
Be committed to personal development
Have flexibility to allow for participation in extended working hours which includes weekday evenings and weekends.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will

Deliver high quality, compassionate care for patients with orthopaedic conditions.
Provide assessment and treatment tailored to the individual needs of the patient
Work within the team to prioritise and plan timely discharges for patients from the Orthopaedic In-Patient unit.
Actively support the day case pathway for Orthopaedics patients.
Work closely with the team to support The Enhanced Recovery Programme.
Be able to provide therapy covering both Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy assessments and provide appropriate, guidance, advice and equipment.
Be responsible for undertaking administrative and housekeeping tasks within the department.

Essential

Due to the nature of the role it is essential that applicants are able to travel independently between TRFT sites and for patient visits in the Rotherham area and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes.
