Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to join our In-Patient Orthopaedic therapy team. The successful candidate will (on completion of the required competencies) be delivering care within the Orthopaedic In-Patient Therapy Team based on the Orthopaedic Unit at Rotherham Hospital. This will include assessment and treatment of elective and trauma patients with a variety of orthopaedic conditions.
This job is full time- 37:30 hours per week, will include late night working and also support the weekend working/ Bank Holiday service.
Applicants must
- Possess a relevant foundation degrees or NVQ Level 3 in Diagnostic and Therapeutic Care or equivalent with additional relevant experience
- Have a good knowledge and understanding of Orthopaedic conditions and rehabilitation
- Have excellent team work skills
- Demonstrate good communication skills, including IT literacy
- Demonstrate good organisational skills
- Be able to use their initiative appropriately
- Be able to use a practical approach to problem solving
- Be committed to personal development
- Have flexibility to allow for participation in extended working hours which includes weekday evenings and weekends.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will
- Deliver high quality, compassionate care for patients with orthopaedic conditions.
- Provide assessment and treatment tailored to the individual needs of the patient
- Work within the team to prioritise and plan timely discharges for patients from the Orthopaedic In-Patient unit.
- Actively support the day case pathway for Orthopaedics patients.
- Work closely with the team to support The Enhanced Recovery Programme.
- Be able to provide therapy covering both Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy assessments and provide appropriate, guidance, advice and equipment.
- Be responsible for undertaking administrative and housekeeping tasks within the department.
