Job summary

Permanent, full time position

To provide professional and effective portering services tailored to meet the needs of The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust and our patients ensuring compliance with legislation and regulations surrounding service provision.

To provide day to day operational management to the Portering team, ensuring that service cover is maintained, staff are recruited and trained and that all legislation and operating procedures are adhered to.

You will ensure the resource and equipment is in place to deliver an efficient portering support service to the Trust and ensure that the portfolio of services, ad-hoc tasks and projects are planned, managed and delivered effectively within the allocated financial budget.

Main duties of the job

- To provide leadership and support to Supervisors to ensure the effective day-to-day delivery of Portering operational services.

- Monitor the Teletracking data for improvements and efficiencies.

- Organise additional staffing to meet service delivery and non routine tasks.

- Ensure there are workable rotas to deliver the appropriate service to the Trust.

- Plan staff annual leave allocation around the service delivery.

- Manage and deal with customer enquiries and complaints by adopting a professional and courteous approach at all times utilising key communication skills.

- To use all available methods of communication, including verbal, written and electronic to communicate with staff at all levels across the Trust as well as outside agencies and companies.

- To answer any queries, assist the team, the site management teams, wards and departments in resolving any issues as they arise.

- Responding positively to complaints and comments about the service, and ensure that all such communication is recorded in the correct format and file.

- Ensure work is carried out within the set budget.

- Attend any meetings arranged to represent the portering service.

Essential

  • ILM 3 or 4, Recognised Facilities Qualification or relevant experience.
  • GCSE Grade A-C in Maths and English or equivalent.
  • Experience of working with computer systems to include Microsoft Office and the use of IT packages and web based systems. To have used computerised audit systems and hand held technology in a working environment.
  • International Certification of Digital Literacy (ICDL) or equivalent to a GCSE in IT (A* - C / 4-9) for the Level 2 Core certificate.

Desirable

  • Risk Management Training
  • First Aid Training

  • Previous experience in an NHS Organisation.

Knowledge

  • Good knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety Regulations and a knowledge of risk management.
