Main duties of the job

  • Deliver specialist paediatric dietetic care to children, young people, families, and healthcare professionals across hospital and community settings.
  • Manage an autonomous caseload in both inpatient areas (Childrens Ward and Childrens Assessment Unit) and outpatient clinics.
  • Provide nutritional assessment, treatment, and management for a wide range of conditions, including cows milk allergy, multiple food allergies, restricted eating, faltering growth, and coeliac disease.
  • Facilitate group education sessions for children with restricted eating behaviours.
  • Gain experience in managing children requiring artificial enteral tube feeding.
  • Use evidence-based practice to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate dietetic interventions, ensuring care is holistic and patient-centred.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive dietetic records according to professional and local standards.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams including paediatricians, GPs, community teams, and specialist services.
  • Participate in clinical audit, service development, and student training to support continuous service improvement.
