We are
looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Orthodontic Therapist (Band 7)
to join our highly motivated, professional and supportive Orthodontic
team at The Rotherham Foundation Trust.
The successful candidate will
have proven experience within the Orthodontic Therapist role and be able to
evidence their current skills and knowledge as specified on the person
specification. This vacancy is based within the Oral Maxillofacial Surgery
Department.
Main
duties of the job to undertake independent led clinics and liaise closely with
the Orthodontic Team to manage and provide ongoing treatment plans.
The
candidate will provide specialist contribution to the clinical management of
patients requiring orthodontic treatment in collaboration with the
multi-disciplinary team and maintain high standards of clinical care with
reference to relevant research and evidence based practice.
As a senior member
of the team the appointed candidate will be expected to participate in audit,
research, clinical governance and quality improvement with the service.
They
will be responsible for managing a small team of Dental Nurses and Support
Workers. The post holder, were required, support the teaching, mentoring and
assessment of students in the department, trainees and professional staff
therefore promoting a learning culture.
Main duties of the job
The
candidate will provide an Orthodontic Service, implementing care plans and
performing a range of specialist clinical, restorative or preventative
procedures according to care / treatment plans under direction of a dentist /
orthodontist and maintaining and recording associated records.
You will provide
a specialist contribution to the clinical management of patients requiring
orthodontic treatment, working in collaboration with multidisciplinary
professionals in order to improve patient care.
You will be
responsible for creating an environment where the patient is central to all
decision-making and the delivery of high quality compassionate care is
everyone's prime objective.
To provide a diagnosis for a patients condition
including instigating appropriate clinical investigations and interpreting
results to enable the development of an enhanced care package / immediate
management plan to meet the physical and psychological needs of the patient.
Work as an autonomous practitioner through planning and prioritising own
workload.
The job holder is accountable for their own professional work within
their scope of practice as determined by the General Dental Council without
direct supervision (in line with British Orthodontic Society Guidelines) and
accountable for the actions of unqualified members of staff.
They will have
highly developed accurate physical skills in the manipulation of fine dental
tools and materials to a high degree of precision.
