Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our small, friendly team at Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust. We are seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated and knowledgeable Cardiac Physiologist to provide excellent care across the range of cardiac investigations. We are seeking a fully qualified Cardiac Physiologist/ Healthcare Scientist with a broad range of expertise across a wide range of cardiac investigations. Applications will also be considered from newly qualified/ qualifying this academic year cohort with salary to reflect experience/ years qualified (Band 5) The successful applicant will have excellent communication and organisational skills and work autonomously as well as part of the team. They will perform a range of invasive and/or non-invasive diagnostics in a wide range of clinical settings. Applicants must have PTP, STP or equivalent qualifications and appropriate clinical experience. Some training can be provided for Invasive tests if newly qualified PTP and commensurate on lower starting salary. A degree of flexibility to participate in cover of late running invasive lists is required for this role on occasion. The role covers working as Lead for ETT and HUTT , Analysis, assisting in device follow-up clinics, Angiography and device implant. Main duties of the job

  • 12 Lead ECG
  • Ambulatory ECG/ BP hook up and analysis (including Cardiac memo)
  • Open access GP ECG/ 24 hour monitor reporting service
  • Physiologist and Doctor-Led exercise stress tests
  • Myocardial perfusion studies
  • Rapid Access Chest Pain Clinic (RACPC)
  • Physiologist-Led Tilt Table Tests
  • Performs left and right heart cardiac catheterisation
  • Performs routine pacemaker and ILR implantation
  • Assists in all types of cardiac device clinic (including remote monitoring)

  • Up-to-date degree level knowledge of a range of invasive and non-invasive cardiac physiology investigations
  • Knowledge of left and right heart Cardiac Catheterisation
  • Knowledge of professional standards in keeping with professional registration (e.g. RCCP/ HCPC/ AHCS)
  • Knowledge of NHS Policies, practices and procedures including clinical governance

Desirable

  • Knowledge of more advanced cardiac procedures such as cardiac device implantation and follow-up/ or echocardiography (as appropriate to role)

Qualifications

Essential

  • Completion of Practitioner Training Programme (PTP), Scientist Training Programme (STP) or equivalent (e.g. BSc in Clinical Physiology or HTEC MPPM with SCST Parts I and II)

Desirable

  • Working towards post graduate qualification or training qualification (e.g. BSE or BHRS Accreditation)
  • Evidence of up to date resuscitation certification including manual defibrillation

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of performing and reporting a range of routine non-invasive cardiac investigations independently
  • Experience of working unsupervised in left and right heart Cardiac Catheterisation
  • Evidence of up-to-date CPD within Cardiology

Desirable

  • Experience of more advanced cardiac procedures such as echocardiography or cardiac device implantation and follow-up
