Job summary
1 day (7.5 hours) Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist in the Paediatric preschool and Community Clinic teams
Base: Rotherham Community Health Centre Greasborough Roard Rotherham S60 1RY and Kimberworth Place Kimberworth Raod S61 1HE both 5 -10 minutes from Meadowhall Shopping Centre.
An opportunity has arisen for a part time band 5 Speech & Language Therapist in our friendly and innovative Speech and Language Therapy team. We are looking for an enthusiastic SLT who has an interest in working with children and young in clinic, nursery and home settings to provide assessment, advice and intervention for children.
We would welcome applications from both newly qualified SLTs or more experienced Band 5s. Please note if you have not finished your degree and are waiting for HCPC accreditation you may need tick the box to say you have this so it allows you to apply. Rotherham has friendly and dynamic Therapy department. Caseloads are divided into specialist teams to ensure that all therapists working with similar client groups are part of a strong supporting team.
The department offers a formal mentoring, peer support and a Personal Development Review system which ensures that training and learning needs can be identified and met appropriately.
Working days/ pattern TBC but should be flexible.
Main duties of the job
1. To assess, diagnose, develop and implement programmes of care to meet the needs of children with a variety of speech, language and communication difficulties in clinic
2. To prioritise, assess, treat, manage and discharge own caseload.
3. To interpret test data and evaluate other presenting factors in order to plan and implement therapy programmes as necessary.
4. To work independently and as part of a multi-professional team.
5.. To set and monitor care aims and outcomes throughout therapy.
6. To work holistically with families and other practitioners involved with a child
7. To discharge clients from care as and when appropriate.
8. To use evidence based practice in line with current research and Government targets
9. To participate in clinical supervision to ensure best practice.
10. To undertake training specific to the specialist areas of work
11. To attend mandatory training as required for safe practices in NHS Rotherham.
12. To monitor own service delivery in line with SLT and The Rotherham Foundation Trust protocols and guidelines.
13. To work in partnership with other agencies to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.
To undertake regular safeguarding training and supervision.
To follow local pathways and policies for safeguarding e.g. signs of safety, safeguarding referrals.
To contribute to case conferences and court reports when required.
14. To refer on to other services as required
