Job summary
We are seeking to recruit 2 dynamic, organised and enthusiastic Band 8a Advanced Clinical Practitioners and or Trainee ACPs in year 3 of their training whom may wish to develop skills within a Surgical directorate and to work within a well-established Surgical Team.
This exciting opportunity includes early assessment and admission of patients, planning investigations, consultation, independent prescribing and liaison with medical, nursing, ACP and support teams. The post-holder will be expected to exercise a high degree of personal professional autonomy and integrity to make critical judgments to satisfy the expectations and demands of the role.
The department has an excellent track record of supporting both training and development of ACPs and provides robust Consultant supervision and a range of educational opportunities. We currently have a team of 6 qualified ACP and one trainee from Nursing and Paramedic backgrounds.
Our ACPs are expected to participate in teaching, service improvement, and audit and have opportunities to develop procedural skills and special interests.

Main duties of the job
You will be working as part of the surgical team providing leadership, expertise, advice and support to the UECC, Surgical Assessment Unit, Elective surgical wards and Theatre areas ensuring the provision of high quality, person-centred care to acutely ill patients from the first point of contact to their final destination, either admission or discharge
- The post holder will practise autonomously as an advanced clinical practitioner within the designated speciality area to provide patient-centred clinical care.
- The post holder will support new ways of working that emphasise an efficient, patient focused service, and will ensure the safe treatment, referral and discharge of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed presentations across the specialty.
- This exciting opportunity includes early assessment and clerking of patients, access to investigations, consultation, independent prescribing and liaison with medical, nursing, ACP and support teams.
