Were looking for an experienced and driven individual with experience of both working in and leading a busy communications team.

The post holder will work with the Joint Director of Communications on planning, identifying and delivering strategic and tactical communications activity across all channels to support the aims and objectives of both Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust.

This will include communications activity aimed at driving the Trusts relationships with employees, patients, local and national stakeholders, the media, opinion-formers and the general public.

The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust is a combined acute and community Trust providing services at a number of sites across Rotherham, including Rotherham Hospital, Rotherham Community Health Centre, BreathingSpace, Park Rehabilitation Centre and Kimberworth Place. https://www.therotherhamft.nhs.uk

Barnsley Hospital is a 400-bed acute hospital, serving a population of over a quarter of a million people in the Barnsley area, South Yorkshire. Barnsley Hospital provides a full range of district hospital services to the local community and surrounding area. Main duties of the job

The post holder will ensure key messages are clearly articulated and provide advice to ensure the good reputation of the Trust is reflected internally and externally as well as ensuring balance in any negative coverage. This will mean providing advice and guidance to senior personnel on complex and high-profile or contentious issues.

Youwill help to enable and hold sustainable and meaningful dialogue with diverse communities ensuring the Trusts communications strategy both reflects the aspirations and needs of all those it serves and who work for it and that communication is visible and effective.

The role will also involve providing professional media relations and issues management on both a proactive and reactive basis. The post holder will seek opportunities to promote and enhance the Trusts reputation with all audiences. This will involve consistency of message and supporting the Joint Director of Communications in close liaison with key stakeholders in the local health and care system.

Youwill manage the communications managers on both hospital sites, quality assuring their work and leading on the recruitment, retention and development of individuals and the team as a whole. You will participate in general team management duties and deputise for the Joint Director of Communications as needed.
