This job is now closed

Job summary

Getting it Right First Time (GIRFT) is a national clinical improvement programme, created and led by consultant orthopaedic surgeon Professor Tim Briggs, working with frontline clinicians to identify and reduce unwarranted variations in service delivery and clinical practice. There are over 40 surgical and medical specialities being reviewed as part of the programme. The aim is to improve the quality of surgical and medical care within the NHS through deeper insight of performance and outcomes, informed by data analysis across a range of metrics.

The national key objective is to improve outcomes for patients whilst facilitating savings. GIRFTs first priority is to improve the quality of outcomes for patients; savings come from making improvements, whether by reducing complications or increasing use of the most appropriate treatments. There savings can then be reinvested to further improve patient care.

This is of high priority for The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust as we roll out the Getting it Right First Time Standards across the target specialities. We are committed to using a standard approach internally to deliver the improvements in service and efficiency.

Main duties of the job

This key role will have strategic oversight for the Trusts GIRFT programme and further development of key improvement metrics in particular the GIRFT Outpatient & Recovery Transformation Programme.

This role is to act in an overarching capacity between all six clinical divisions to ensure the correct and standardised process is in place. This should include a review of all actions at specialty level including the sign off of key metrics, a detailed quarterly review at the GIRFT Oversight Group and Clinical Effectiveness Committee.

The role should support each specialty who undergo an annual in-depth review (through Support Days) to oversee a Trust wide process and a specialty and divisional governance process.

The successful applicant will act to ensure implementation of the process by the GIRFT Oversight Group and attending Support Days, Speciality & Divisional Governance where necessary in order to drive forward improvements.
