Job summary

Were looking for a creative and passionate Media and Communications Officer to join our team where no two days are the same.The role will provide support for internal and external communications, including media relations, social media, intranet and website, working alongside our in-house Graphics team. It is an exciting time to join the team as we continually develop and improve our channels.We are looking for someone with experience of working in a busy communications team, who understands the importance of tailoring communications towards different audiences and channels, and with strong working relationships with key stakeholders. You will have excellent proofreading skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage your own workload and work to tight deadlines.You would be joining a friendly team based at Rotherham Hospital. There will be opportunities to get involved in other areas of the teams work, work with colleagues in all areas of the Trust including senior management, and develop your skills and knowledge further.You will be largely office based at Rotherham Hospital but will be required to travel to other Trust sites on occasion, as well as occasional evening/weekend work to cover Trust events. There will be the opportunity for occasional remote working.

Main duties of the job

Develop, lead, plan and implement communications to internal and external audiences Contribute to regular newsletters in written and video format Proactively develop press releases and a quarterly newspaper supplement Respect and maintain confidentiality React swiftly to any media enquiries Work with the Communications Manager to organise the annual staff awards Align work to reflect the Trust values Establish relationships with local and regional media Demonstrate an awareness of awards, submit entries on behalf of the Trust Update and maintain the Trust website and intranet, with a strong focus on accessibility regulations Bring new ideas to the table Maintain effective relationships and work in collaboration with a broad range of stakeholders Present information and issues to a wide range of stakeholders To liaise with colleagues to share best practice Use a variety of both digital and traditional media Always consider the diverse needs of service users and patients, especially deaf people and patients from underrepresented backgrounds Devise effective evaluation methods to measure the success of communication and marketing pieces of work
