Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a band 7 Clinical Nurse to join the nurse led service of the vascular access team at TRFT.

The band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist holds the unique position of leading the vascular access team in delivering innovative and up to date vascular access to the patients in the Hospital.

This is an exciting opportunity to be directly involved in shaping and delivering Vascular Access care across TRFT.

The band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist should have excellent clinical skills and sound clinical knowledge, which are essential to the role. These skills will be utilised to develop team members, provide trust wide education in addition to providing gold standard Vascular Access care.

Professional development is a priority and we will fully support and encourage any relevant courses. The band 7 will benefit from band 7 peer support from the other nurse specialists within the CSU, including Photopheresis, Anticoagulation and the band 7 Nursing Service Manager in Outpatients.

As part of this role the band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist will work closely with the Matron and Service Manager to develop and deliver Quality Improvement projects within the vascular access service.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of the band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist in the vascular access team include leading the vascular access team and ensure the standards are consistently met.

The Band 7 CNS should have a sound understanding of the key performance indicators for the service, have up to date knowledge if the team are meeting the key performance indicator and if they are not what plan is in place to demonstrate improvement.

The band 7 will support the development of the band 6 nurse specialists in addition to working alongside the band 6 nurses in clinical practice.

Developing excellent professional relationships with colleagues and peers throughout the trust is essential.

The band 7 will lead in the review of new vascular access products and undertaking product trials in addition to providing excellent feedback to medical reps, procurement, the team, and matron and service manager.

The maintenance of Vascular access Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and policies ensuring they are up to date and in line with the relevant guidelines will be the responsibly of the band 7 CNS.
