Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and experienced individual to join the Pathology Services Management Team for Barnsley and Rotherham Integrated Laboratory Services (BRILS).

To maintain our excellent standards we focus heavily on ensuring our dedicated staff have the best support and training available to continually improve services delivering development opportunities for the right candidates to further develop their skills and ambition.

The main responsibility of the Quality Manager is the maintenance and development of the Pathology Departments Quality Management System to ISO15189 standards, working across the disciplines of Haematology, Blood Transfusion, Clinical Chemistry, Immunology, (collectively Blood Sciences), Microbiology and Cellular Pathology (including the Mortuary). You must have a working knowledge of the relevant legislation and standards that apply within these areas and the organisations that monitor compliance against these, including MHRA, HTA, HSE and UKAS (CPA) requirements. You will be a key figure within Clinical Governance of Pathology and undertake the role of Health and Safety Officer. The post is hosted at Rotherham Hospital.

Main duties of the job

We are looking to employ an enthusiastic individual with drive and ambition who will be professional, reliable, innovative and flexible to join our friendly and hardworking team.

You must have knowledge of the major disciplines, educated to MSc or equivalent level, having excellent organisation, communication and influencing skills and preferably be HCPC registered.

The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust is one of five Trusts involved in the formation of the South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw (SYB) Pathology Network. A collaborative Network will also provide rewarding jobs and career opportunities for all staff. A hub and spoke operating model has been agreed which will ultimately lead to the consolidation of services across SYB. As work progresses to establish the Network, staff will be consulted about proposals that may involve them.
