Job summary
Assess the care needs of patients and develop a programme of evidence based practice care which is evaluated and amended as appropriate without direct supervision.
To maintain clinical competence through Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and mandatory training requirements.
To ensure clear and timely record keeping of all assessments and care provided.
Maintain good communication with patients and their relatives, alongside the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT).
Take charge of the clinical area in the absence of the Deputy or Ward/Department Leader (if appropriately trained and competent to do so).
Utilise NUH evidence based policies and guidelines to ensure safety of care and maintain professional understanding of Evidence Based Practice (EBP) used.
The post holder is required to be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
Main duties of the job
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1.0 Clinical
1.1 Be responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development of programmes of care ensuring that these are evaluated and amended as appropriate.
1.2 Document and assess the condition and progress of patients and report/escalate to medical staff and/or senior nursing staff with any areas of concern.
1.3 Undertake nursing procedures and techniques, with the relevant training, in accordance with agreed policies and guidelines.
1.4 Demonstrate clinical procedures to other registered and non-registered staff as required.
1.5 Once agreed competent in team management skills, take charge of the clinical area on a regular basis in the absence of the Deputy or Ward/Department Leader
