Job summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Band 7 Complex Home Ventilation Nurse Specialist (Neurology)to join our established specialist service on a 12-month secondmentat Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.
This is a unique clinical role supporting adults with highly complex, long-term ventilation needsin the community, including patients with progressive neurological conditions such as Motor Neurone Disease and Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, some requiring tracheostomy ventilation.
The post holder will work autonomously across a wide geographical area, providing specialist assessment, clinical decision-making, patient and family support, education, and leadership, while working closely with multidisciplinary teams across hospital and community services.
Main duties of the job
- Manage a specialist caseload of patients requiring long-term non-invasive and invasive ventilation
- Undertake advanced clinical assessments and make autonomous clinical decisions
- Run independent nurse-led clinics and interpret diagnostic information
- Provide expert advice and support to patients, families, carers and professionals
- Support complex discharges, admission avoidance and hospital flow
- Deliver specialist education and training to hospital and community staff
- Participate in MDT meetings and contribute to service development and audit
