Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an MDT Co-Ordinator within the Department of Spinal Surgery. You will need to be proficient in minute taking with good typing skills, attention to detail and sound grammatical knowledge. The ability to time manage and prioritise tasks is essential. GCSE English and Mathematics grade C or above (new grade 4) is a requirement of this position. NVQ3 or above in administration, plus knowledge of medical terminology would be an advantage but not a necessity.
This role is interesting and can provide a high degree of job satisfaction due to the crucial administrative support it provides to the clinicians and nursing teams. Self-sufficient, motivated individuals who work well as a team and who want to make a difference are encouraged to apply.
Main duties of the job
Principal Role Responsibilities:
To provide administrative facilitation of Spinal MDT meetings including preparing, organising and circulating agendas, and recording the outcome of MDT meetings.
To assist and supervise the collation of all relevant documentation for team meetings, to include patient notes,, x-rays, test/investigation results, letters, etc.
To identify and be involved with co-ordinating appropriate patient referrals for discussion at the MDT team meetings using defined protocols/guidelines and liaising closely with the Spinal Clinicians.
To inspect and approve the MDT list prior to circulation to ensure data is complete and to avoid unnecessary repetition.
To confirm MDT decisions to referring clinicians and primary care.
To maintain an attendance record of core and non-core members of the MDT as part of Peer review submission.
Create correspondence as appropriate from pre-defined templates to other multi-disciplinary teams (MDTs), GPs, PCT & Public Health.
To follow-up MDT outcomes to ensure they are actioned.
Answer MDT queries as appropriate, using problem solving skills, together with initiative to ask for specialist clinical advice when necessary.
