Job summary
NUH is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated Senior Clinical Fellow at ST3 level or above to support our Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department. The post is for 12 months initially with the potential to extend.
This is an exciting opportunity to get excellent experience in OMFS including oncology and deformity sub-specialties. You will work closely with consultants, other junior doctors and multi-disciplinary teams. The post holder will be part of the 2nd on-call rota alongside trainees and other fellows on a 1:6 basis and should therefore have completed core competencies, have full MRCS and have experience working within the NHS.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will support various aspects of this busy service, with a commitment to the 2nd on-call out of hours rota (1:6). The post holder will rotate between all consultants to allow a broad range of experience.
The post holder will be expected to;
- Provide inpatient and outpatient services (theatres and clinics) under consultant supervision
- Contribute to the emergency out of hours rota
- Supervise daily ward rounds
- Conduct patient management in line with plans agreed with the Consultants
- Support and teach junior colleagues effectively
- Participate in M&M and MDT meetings
- Contribute to Quality & Improvement Projects within the department
- Attend departmental meetings

- Further develop experience and expertise in the identification and management of the sick patient
- Further develop experience and familiarity in identifying and managing a wide variety of conditions, including making appropriate decisions regarding the need for admission

- Increasingly work towards independent practice at Registrar level, leading ward rounds, assessing patients, making decisions etc. with Consultant support and supervision available
- Develop skills in managing time and conflicting priorities
