Job summary

We have been delighted to expand our Neonatal Occupational Therapy (OT) and Physiotherapy service within the Nottingham Neonatal Unit.

To continue supporting the delivery of a comprehensive Neonatal Service with a family-centred and developmental care focus, we are now looking to recruit to a full-time permanent Band 3 Therapy Support Worker - 37.5hours/week.You will support both Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy colleagues.

You will work within the neonatal inpatient units across the QMC and City campus' to provide intervention to facilitate optimum development towards and beyond discharge home from the NICU, and provide support and intervention with outpatient follow-ups within the home and clinic settings as the service develops.

As part of the Therapy Services at NUH you may be required to support rostered weekends and Bank Holidays.

You will be working directly alongside an enthusiastic and ambitious Neonatal OT and Physio team. You will also integrate with the wider Neonatal AHP team including Speech and Language Therapists & Dieticians, as well as Clinical Psychology and the wider Children's Hospital Therapy team.

Main duties of the job

Early intervention and individualised infant care, using a Family Integrated Care approach on the Neonatal Unit (NNU) aims to reduce the developmental risks for infants born prematurely or with perinatal problems.

As a Therapy Support Worker within Neonates you will:

Gather and utilise assessment information to inform developmental care plans

Deliver universal and tailored developmental advice, intervention and discharge support alongside infants and parents/carers with support and guidance from Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists as appropriate

Work alongside therapists to provide neonatal follow up screening, assessment and intervention in both home and clinic settings

Support therapists in group settings as the role and service develop

Work in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, at all times ensuring that the needs of the infant and their family are placed at the centre of care delivery

Participate in projects and activities that support developmental care and the unit's priorities

Engage in relevant learning opportunities to apply the evidence base in practice

Engage in data collection and utilisation related to service delivery and improvement

Manage equipment stock related to developmental care and positioning
