Specialist Dietitian - Paediatric Oncology

An exciting opportunity has risen for a Dietitian to cover a secondment within the Paediatric Oncology team at Nottingham Children's hospital.

We are looking for a forward thinking and enthusiastic dietitian to join our established team of paediatric dietitians, based at Nottingham Children's Hospital at NUH.

You will be a core and valued member of the multi-disciplinary team, comprised of the medical team, other allied health professionals, specialist nurses and social workers, delivering high quality evidence-based care.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will manage a varied inpatient and outpatientpaediatriconcologycaseload (0-19yrs),supporting oncology children that are enterally fed. You will be providing highly specialised evidence based dietary advice and treatment for cancer patients and their carers across inpatient wards, outpatient clinics, day care and via telephone reviews. You will be overseeing the patients Homeward accounts and ensuring monthly deliveries are arranged appropriately, alongside the support of the dietetic assistant. We have bi-weekly multidisciplinary team meetings where you will be working closely with the wider MDT to ensure the delivery of optimum care to patients.

You will also be expected to help support the Nottingham community home enteral feeding (HEF) patients when they are admitted to the ward.

Applicants should have excellent communication skills and the ability to manage their own time and workload within a supportive team. They should also be able to build good working relationships with the wider team within the community, in order to provide joined-up care to patients. Experience within paediatric dietetics is desirable however the successful applicant will be part of an experienced paediatric hospital and community team who will support development within this specialist area. Experience of nutrition support, including enteral feeding is essential, but support will be provided to gain experience with complex paediatric patients.
