Job summary
Working as part of a team the post-holder will provide a high quality administrative service to consultants and their teams. You will be a conscientious and enthusiastic team player with excellent organisational and communication skills, and be well motivated and reliable.
It is preferable that the successful candidate will have had previous NHS experience in a similar role, a good level of education and experience of using different IT systems (such as Nervecentre, NotIS or Medway PAS). You will be competent in the use of Microsoft Office packages.

Main duties of the job
You will be able to understand and accurately convey verbal and written information and be able to remain calm under pressure. You will be able to work as part of a team to ensure the smooth running of a busy department.
Duties will primarily include consultant diary management, word processing clinical and non clinical letters, clinic maintenance, dealing with incoming mail and results, communicating with patients, GP colleagues and staff and supporting and mentoring new staff.
The successful applicant will have obtained 5 GCSE passes which will include English Language and Maths at grade C or above , will have a word processing or typing qualification (or experience); NVQ level 3 in Administration or equivalent experience.
The successful applicant will have excellent audio typing skills and be competent in the use Microsoft packages. Work based experience within hospital or health care setting is desirable but not essential
