The PPA is a significant roleand a key member of our administrative team supporting multidisciplinary clinicians and in service of our patients.The main purpose of the role is todeliver high-quality, timely and efficient administrative services to our surgery serviceto allow our patients to move smoothly along their hospital pathways forbest possible and timely care.

Main duties of the job

Working closely with our clinicians and as a key member of the Upper GI Administration Team, the post holder will deliver high-quality and timely administrative services that include typing clinical letters, making & receiving calls from patients on our pathway, booking follow-up appointments and tracking & reporting on the intended treatment, progress and status of our patients.

The post holder will play a key role within the service and will work in close liaison with NHS colleagues, patients and the general public. Experience of medical terminology is an advantage and some form of typing experience is desirable, but not essential.

It is preferable but not essential that the successful candidate will have had previous NHS experience, ideally in a similar role; some business & administration education or equivalent experience; and experience of using clinical IT systems (such as Notis or Medway PAS). Some competence in Microsoft Office software including MS Word, Excel and Outlook are essential. We use Microsoft Teams extensively as our online collaboration and communications tool.
