Health Improvement Advisor

Job summary

Do you have a passion for health promotion/ health improvement and a drive to improve the health and wellbeing of the NHS workforce? We are looking for an enthusiastic Health Improvement Advisor to join our growing Occupational Health and Wellbeing service at Nottingham University Hospitals.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop, deliver, and evaluate a range of workplace health programmes that promote prevention, early intervention, and healthier lifestyles among our staff. Your role will be central to the delivery of campaigns and services aligned to key national priorities such as physical activity, mental health, financial wellbeing, menopause, sleep, and cardiovascular risk, amongst many other areas.

You'll work alongside a dynamic multidisciplinary team, engaging staff across departments, supporting health champions, and using data insights to drive meaningful improvement. Essential

  • Degree level of education in topic focused on health, wellbeing, nutrition, exercise
  • Qualified TRiM practitioner
  • Train the trainer qualifications in additional wellbeing related activities (Menopause, Health Checks, Handling Difficult Conversations etc).
  • Knowledge of key healthy lifestyle messages/NHS wellbeing initiatives

Desirable

  • Training in delivering mental health awareness sessions
  • Physical activity qualification

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of evaluation and monitoring (setting up & maintaining spreadsheets/databases)
  • Comprehensive and highly competent IT skills
  • Experience of organising and delivering projects
  • Organising and delivering health checks to staff
  • Delivering TRiM chats
  • Taking a lead in co-ordinating specific projects
  • Organising and delivering events

Desirable

  • Experience of delivering a health intervention
  • Experience of leading a project

Communication and Relationship skills

Essential

  • Ability to work with/engage with a wide range of different groups
  • Ability to create and sustain effective partnership working
  • Ability to positively represent trust to external organisations
  • Ability to present presentations clearly and confidently

Desirable

  • Ability to deal with distressed staff following traumatic incidents
