As the Quality Lead, you will support the departmental Quality Manager and be a senior figure in leading our internal quality systems, inspiring a culture of best practice, regulatory compliance, and innovation.

Main duties of the job

Serve as a departmental leader for quality, working in partnership with the Quality Manager to maintain and enhance our ISO15189:2022 standards.

Be a role model for quality culture, driving audit, document control, non-conformance investigations, and continuous improvement across the service.

Lead and motivate a team of Biomedical Scientists and support staff, ensuring professional development, operational excellence, and high morale.

Support operational performance through effective planning, troubleshooting, and technical expertise, particularly in quality and compliance areas.

Oversee and actively contribute to the review and development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), quality indicators, and risk assessments.

Participate in and lead internal audits, assist in external quality assessments, and help prepare for accreditation visits.

Champion innovation and contribute to service development projects, including research, clinical trials, and implementation of cutting-edge technologies.

Promote collaborative working relationships across disciplines and with external stakeholders, ensuring exceptional patient-focused service delivery.

Applicants MUST be currently registered to practice with the HCPC and it is essential that applicants have completed the IBMS Specialist Portfolio or equivalent in Histopathology, hold an MSc or equivalent Postgraduate qualification and be able to demonstrate extensive commitment to continuing education and training. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate up to date highly specialised or expert knowledge in Cellular Pathology techniques and have evidence of extensive post-registration experience in a diagnostic laboratory.
This role will also have supervisory and line management responsibility, and previous experience of this would be desirable.
The laboratory operates a Monday to Saturday Service (inclusive of bank holidays) with the successful applicant being required to participate in this rotation.
It is essential the successful candidate canconform to Trust managers standards and be willing to commit to the Trust Values and Behaviours.
