Job summary

Due to a restructuring of the team to align with our new clinical Care Groups and internal promotions, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a People Policy and Governance Advisor to join the newly created People Policy and Governance Team at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH). This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in developing and embedding fair, inclusive, and values-based people policies and governance across a large, complex NHS organisation.

In this varied role working within a dynamic and supportive team, you'll support the shaping and implementation of our People policies, provide advice on policies and governance issues, and contribute to people-related projects and programmes across the Trust. You'll work closely with colleagues across the People Directorate, managers/leaders, and staff-side colleagues to ensure our people policies and processes support our staff and reflect our commitment to a Just and Restorative Culture.

We're looking for someone who is proactive, collaborative and able to manage their own workload confidently. You'll need a good understanding of employment legislation, a keen eye for detail and a strong commitment to fairness and continuous improvement.

Main duties of the job

As a People Policy and Governance Advisor, you will:o Support the lifecycle of policy and guidance development - from research and drafting to consultation, approval, and implementation to supporting policy-related training and coaching.o Provide advice and guidance on People policies, employment law, and terms and conditions, helping colleagues to apply policies and resolve issues confidently, fairly and consistentlyo Work collaboratively with Staffside/union colleagues, managers/leaders, and stakeholders to ensure our People policies promote inclusion and fairness, helping to embed a Just and Restorative Culture approach in our People practices and policies and in turn improving staff wellbeing and workplace experiences.o Contribute to People-governance processes, including taking part in job evaluation panels, providing guidance on job descriptions to ensure fair and equitable grading, supporting people-related projects and programmes, attending meetings, tracking progress and taking notes.o Contribute to the coordination of Trust-wide communications on People-related matters, including managing content on our intranet and social media.
