Job summary
Applications are invited for the post of - Special Interest Obstetrics and Gynaecology fellow Post -Genomic Gynae Oncology Fellow. This post isavailable for a period of 12 months initiallywith the option to extend by mutual agreement.
This post provides a great opportunity for O and G doctors at ST4 + level but ideally at ST6-7 level to train in the exciting and rapidly progressing field of genomics whilst working in one of the biggest and busiest trusts in the country.
Main duties of the job
We aim to offer a trainee a training in genetics and genomics with particular regard to gynae oncology. The training will be delivered by a combined approach within the gynae oncology department and clinical genetics and will include sessions in both departments.
Training will be offered in Gynaecology Oncology MDT working and how genomics / genetics fits into cancer planning and care. Also, training will be given in the management and prophylactic surgery of gene carriers. The successful candidate will take part in mainstream genetic testing and be trained in genetic counselling and have opportunities to take part in research programmes.
About us
The Maternity and Gynaecology department includes all hospital and community basedobstetrics, gynaecology and midwifery services. 44 consultants contribute to our obstetricsand gynaecology service, of which 18 are obstetric consultants, 18 gynaecologists, and 8combined obstetrician and gynaecologists.
The hospital based services are split between the City hospital and Queen's Medical Centresites. Both have a labour suite which is associated with a level 3 Neonatal Unit, dedicatedobstetric anaesthetic service, and inpatient and outpatient obstetric services. There is a 3tier junior doctor 24 hour presence. Our fetal medicine centre accepts regional referrals, andis delivered across the two sites. There is a dedicated maternal medicine service, with multi professional clinics including obstetric haematology, renal, and medical. There is a strongresearch presence in the department, with Nottingham contributing to, and leading, nationaland international clinical trials.

Dependent on experience on call duties will be at Registrar (St4-5 tier 2) or senior registrar level (Tier 3). There are 2 tiers of registrars out of hours on each site for O and G with a separate rota for emergency gynaecology on the Queens campus.
