The Bed Manager role is pivotal to enable patients to transfer from the Emergency Department and QMC and City Hospital in a timely manner to ensure that targets are met and patients receive the ongoing care they require and placing patients in the correct speciality areas.
Working together with the medicine Bronze and senior management team to ensure patient flow is maintained.
We are looking for a person, who is organised, motivated, is able to work independently and is a lateral thinker. Has excellent communication skills and is passionate about ensuring patients access into medical beds at city hospital is as seamless as possible.

- Ability to understand and adhere to working practices for providing a patient escort service
- Ability to recongnise the emotional and physical needs of a patient who is anxious/apprehensive/aggressive
Desirable
- Previous experience of working in a customer/patient focused environment
- Previous experience in a health care setting
- Previous DISCO Experience
- Previous experience as bed manager or similar role
Training & Qualifications
Essential
- GCSE or equivalent Maths and English achieved
- Demonstrate Computer literacy & use of IT skills - e.g. e-mail, Word, Excel
Desirable
- Can competently use IT systems such as Nerve centre, word documents , excel
Analytical and Judgement skills

- Ability to analyse and act on simple information on a daily basis, i.e. patient transfer requests in order to prioritise workload
- Deals effectively with problems within well-defined procedures and guidelines
- Has expereince of working under pressure as part of team

- Ability to manoeuvre people and equipment in line with Trust policy
