An exciting opportunity has arisen for the challenging but rewarding role of Ward Deputy Sister / Charge Nurse on our Children's Medical Day Case Unit
Children's Medical Day Case Unit is made up of 6 day case chairs providing medical day case procedures to a wide range of medical specialties; including but not limited to General Medicine, Respiratory, Gastroenterology, Allergy and multiple more.
This is an extremely exciting and unique opportunity to lead prominent new service within Nottingham Children's Hospital. The post holder will have day to day responsibility for the clinical environment and will lead the nursing team across the Medical Day Case Unit.
The successful applicant will need to be an inspirational leader who can motivate and develop a team. Excellent communication skills are essential to this role.

Ensure high quality, evidence-based care is offered to patients and, in collaboration with the Ward Manager, identify the common issues which affect the quality of care, devising clear action plans to address any shortcomings. In collaboration with the Ward Manager, ensure that the patient has a satisfactory experience by evaluating patient process and the pathway of care. Support the Ward Manager in ensuring clinical audit takes place in line with the Trust's requirements to improve practice. Being a point of contact for patients, visitors, relatives and staff acting as a resource for problems, needs and able to clearly present the patient's view to others. Support the Ward Manager in ensuring the development and on-going management of work rosters that provide appropriate safe staff cover.

This post is essential to safe and effective running of the ward area as the role entails delivery of direct patient care as well as ensuring that consistently safe and effective care is delivered to patients and their families; this incorporates the provision of emotional support. In addition, this role provides leadership and management support to the Ward Sister and team to ensure safe, effective running of the ward on a daily basis.
The appropriate candidate would need experience of managing the ward on a daily basis (in charge of shifts regularly).
