Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our Immunology Team which is part of Clinical Pathology on. This is a part -time role offering 15 hours / week only. PLEASE DO NOT APPLY IF YOU REQUIRE MORE HOURS.The department provides a wide range of analytical, diagnostic, interpretative and consultative service to Hospitals, Clinics and GP Practices.You will be required to undertake basic laboratory tasks that are required for the smooth operation of this busy department. The main purpose is to support the department in the delivery of a high quality diagnostic service. The lab opening hours are Mon- Fri 9-5pm.The successful applicant must have good interpersonal skills and demonstrate excellent relations to facilitate working in a team of BMS staff, as well as other healthcare professionals. High levels of concentration and attention to detail are required. This role involves occasional lifting/carrying/walking. You will be a strong team player with good organisational skills, but also able to deal with the pressure of managing your own work. A good standard of education (to GCSE level or equivalent) is necessary as are good keyboard skills. You should be flexible, methodical and organised with good communication skills. Full in-service training will be provided.

Telephone queries
Set up of assays
monitoring referral results
Requesting some tests
Dealing with lab housekeeping such as cleaning, removing waste, topping up PPE, collecting samples from other areas
