Carrel Ward is looking to recruit an enthusiastic, self-motivated Deputy Leader to complement our existing friendly team. Within the CAS division we have 12 beds and care for a variety of patients both male and female, of varying ages ranges. We specialise in renal and our patients come from a diverse background.

Main duties of the job
Deputy Ward Sister / Deputy Charge Nurse37.5 hoursTeam Carrel is a 12 bedded acute medical ward specialising in the care of patients with Renal disease and patients undergoing renal replacement therapy. We pride ourselves in the quality of our nursing care.
We are looking for an individual who is committed to delivering excellent patient care, and has the skills to take charge of shifts whilst delivering all extracopreal therapies. This is on the machinary 5008 dialysis, HF440 - Plasma exchange and Baxter Peritoneal dialysis machines. We deliver these treatments 24/7 so this is a main duty.
As a band 6 on Carrel you will work with the other committed members of the management team to manage the ward staff. This includes completing return to works, appraisals, tendible audits as well as being involved in clinical governance, IRM's, datix closure and other link roll expectations.
As a band 6 here you will have the opportunity to develop your leadership role and take part in courses.

Act as the deputy to the ward sister/charge nurse regularly taking charge of the ward and ensuring that the standards and quality of care given to patients, together with the environment in which care is delivered, are maintained at a high standard.
Be an effective leader and role model and will be expected to provide regular direct clinical care and use experience to support the implementation of both clinical and nonclinical governance.
Work flexibly as a member of the ward team and in support of the Ward Sister/Charge Nurse to ensure standards are being maintained, evaluated, and where necessary improved.
Under take a number of managerial responsibilities such as appraisals, return to work meetings and 121's with members of the team and monthly audits.
Work closely with other members of the renal speciality team.
