An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our friendly and committed Clinical Haematology team as the Deputy ward Manager. The Centre for Clinical Haematology is a nationally recognised centre of excellence for the treatment of haematological malignancies covering a large geographical area. The department is currently open from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday and 8-4 on Saturday's including bank holidays.
This role will include working alongside the current unit manager and team of deputies to lead and support the day case and outpatient team to provide an excellent high quality service for our haematology patients.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will act as Deputy to the unit Manager they will be required to:
Act as the deputy to the ward manager, completing managerial roles such as, return to work discussions, sickness monitoring, rota completion. Be an effective leader and role model. Will be expected to provide regular direct clinical care, administration of medications and chemotherapy. Support the implementation of both clinical and non-clinical governance. Work flexibly as a member of the team to ensure standards are being maintained, evaluated, and where necessary improved.
Ensure high quality, evidence-based care is offered to patients and, in collaboration with the ward manager identify the common issues which affect the quality of care, devising clear action plans to address any shortcomings ensuring agreed action is undertaken.
In collaboration with the ward manager, ensure that the patient has a satisfactory experience by evaluating patient processes and redesigning the pathway of care.
Improve and maintain standards of essential (basic) nursing care by using tools such as clinical audits.
