Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Nutrition Nurse Specialist to join our existing multi-professional team as the lead Clinical Nutrition Nurse Specialist. You will work within this team to lead & co-ordinate nutrition support across the trust, managing complex inpatients. You will work alongside the Home Enteral Feeding Team providing support, advice and education to patients/ significant others in the management of their care in preparation for discharge with enteral feeding.

Main duties of the job

As a Nutrition Nurse Specialist, you will be involved in the management of patients requiring enteral and parenteral nutrition. You will work with our existing Nurse Specialist and Dietetic teams to facilitate a high-quality nutrition service trust wide.

The post holder will be a key member of the Nutrition multi-disciplinary team and will make a valuable contribution to the strategic direction of nutritional care across the trust. You will be experienced in the management and insertion of a range of enteral feeding tubes and devices. You will lead and facilitate compliance with local, national policy and guidelines and innovate nursing practice within nutrition support. You will support the clinical governance agenda and support best practice across the trust, being a vital element of this role.

You will need to possess excellent communication skills, strong leadership skills, have experience in change management and require advanced clinical judgement skills and a knowledge of artificial nutrition. You will need the ability to competently and confidently influence others in the provision of high standards of care for our patients and their families.

As Clinical Nutrition Nurse Specialist your role will be to support the wider MDT members and provide support, advice, formal and informal education, contribute and participate in core clinical guidelines relating to nutrition support. You will also need to be committed to your own personal development.
