Job summary
We have two opportunities to join the growing Radiation Physics team at Nottingham University Hospitals. These posts would suit individuals with an interest in diagnostic radiology and/or radiation protection, who would like to contribute to the development and improvement of a wide range of techniques supporting a comprehensive clinical service.
This is an exciting time for Radiation Physics at NUH with many new developments expected in the coming years, including photon-counting CT and contrast-enhanced screening mammography. We are active in research and training and would be happy to support the successful candidates in developing their skills in these areas.
Ideally, you would be a Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered clinical scientist, or clearly eligible for registration, with experience of diagnostic radiology and radiation protection in healthcare. However, we would also like to hear from candidates who do not yet fully meet the person specification but are willing to undertake the requisite training to reach this standard, who will be considered for appointment at a lower grade (Band 6 on Annex 21).
The post holder will be encouraged, in time, to develop towards MPE and/or RPA certification.
Hours will be full-time (37.5 hours per week), with flexible working hours, as the service requires with candidate's agreement. Consideration will also be given to part-time working.
Main duties of the job
The role will involve:
- Providing support to Diagnostic Radiology by supporting the department's work on the quality assurance of x-ray generating equipment, optimization and patient dosimetry programs and regulatory compliance.
- Participation in the teaching and training delivered by the department to a range of staff grades
- Participation in research and development activities.
Due to the nature of our service delivery, candidates will need to be able to work to deadlines and will be expected to travel across the region. A UK Driving license is desirable.
