Job summary
This post is for a HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist wanting to gain experience within a large Virology department.
While working in the Virology department you will gain experience using the following equipment; Alinity I, Alinity M, Liaison, AltoStar, Cepheid, KingFisher and Maxwell Extraction platforms and AusDiagnostics.
The department is currently undertaking the National ED Opt-Out BBV Screening and we are always looking to improve our current services through innovation.
The post holder will also gain experience working in the Research and Specialist Molecular department. Where we are growing our sequencing capability using Sanger and MinION NGS.

Candidates interested in the Registered Biomedical Scientists role must be HCPC registered and have experience working in a Diagnostic Microbiology department, experience working in a UK Diagnostic Microbiology service would be an advantage but is not essential.

About us
The Clinical Microbiology service is a comprehensive medical microbiology service handling in excess of 900,000 microbiology and virology samples per year. We are a well-established Institute of Biomedical Science training center providing a variety of professional qualifications for individuals that are able to demonstrate the key skills to progress within their microbiology career.
We are a large teaching hospital and therefore provide exposure to a wealth of microbiology. The experience gained whilst in Nottingham has provided individuals the confidence and experience to take on senior management roles within the National Health Service in addition to the private sector. In addition we have an excellent training culture and believe in talent management providing ourstaff opportunities to move up within our own service.
Please note this service is a 24/7 provision and therefore individuals must be flexible and able to work on all shifts including night shift provision
