Job summary

The National Rehabilitation Centre (NRC) is looking for a full time Band 6 Occupational Therapist. You will join an innovative, forward thinking team, transforming the future of rehabilitation for people who have experienced injury or illness. We are looking for like-minded people to join our team to create the first NHS national centre of excellence for rehabilitation in England. The centre is co-located with the military in their Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre 400m away within the Stanford Hall Rehabilitation Estate in Nottinghamshire.

This is a very exciting time to become involved in Rehabilitation. You will be at the forefront of big change over the next few years. Your contribution will be vital but not only that, you will be supported to grow and learn through our many research, innovation and education programmes at the NRC.

The new building will be ready in the summer of 2025. This role will be temporarily based at our current unit, Linden Lodge at Nottingham City Hospital, until we moveand will continue to deliver early, goal-directed rehabilitation to patients transitioning from our regional Neurosurgery, Spinal and Major Trauma Centres.

Main duties of the job

In this role you will provide occupational therapy for a caseload of complex rehabilitation patients from neurology, neurosurgery, spinal, and major trauma specialities. You will work creatively and collaboratively with the MDT, patients and their families, as well as external agencies. You will work with the occupational therapy and wider multidisciplinary team to ensure effective service delivery, supporting staff and actively developing the service.

You will receive support and training opportunities for you to develop in this role to reach your full potential. This will include peer and senior support, regular supervision, in-house and external training, as well as varied opportunities to engage in wider learning experiences.

The successful candidate will have excellent core occupational therapy clinical skills, previous experience in neurological rehabilitation, as well as a wide range of clinical experience through other specialities. You will demonstrate a high level of communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.

There will be a requirement to contribute to planned weekend and bank holiday rotas.
