Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Cardiac Cath Lab Practitioner role for a Registered Nurse to join the team.

We are looking for a nurse with extensive experience in Cardiology who has the skills and knowledge to progress their career within the Cardiac Cath Labs.

The role includes full in-house training for relevant Senior Cath Lab nursing, Cardiac Physiology and Radiography aspects of the job.

There is an expectation that the successful applicant will undertake an area of service improvement that benefits the Cath Lab service.

Main duties of the job

  • To undertake scrubbing and circulating roles for a wider variety of Cath Lab procedures
  • Undertake the Cardiac Physiology role for Interventional Cardiology procedures (angiogram/PCI - to include Primary PCI intervention)
  • To undertake Cardiac Radiography for Cath Lab procedures
  • Design, develop and lead on a service improvement project which will benefit the Cath Lab service
  • Contribute to the Cath Lab on-call rota

When working as Cardiac Radiographer

To undertake imaging procedures within area of speciality.

To maintain a high standard of work and to strive for continual improvements in radiographic standards and patient care.

To manipulate and manoeuvre radiographic equipment and patients in order to obtain high quality diagnostic images within the departments protocols and procedures.

When working as Senior Cardiac Catheter Lab Nurse

Work within a clinical team to deliver a specialist service, based on principles that are research based and which enhance the quality of patient care.

Develops the skills to assess and interpret specialist information and conditions and takes appropriate action.

Undertakes clinical procedures that require dexterity and accuracy, including scrubbing for the full range of cardiac procedures in the Cardiac catheter lab including complex procedures such as structural cardiac interventions and ablation.

When Working as Cardiac Physiologist

Have in-depth knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the cardio-vascular system and the full range of interventional equipment in use

Be highly competent in ECG application and able to recognise and report on a wide range of abnormalities on ECG, intra-cardiac pressure waves / shunts, valve gradients and cardiac output if necessary

Provide technical support for coronary interventional and structural interventional procedures
