Job summary
The Bone Densitometry Service is within the Nuclear Medicine Section of the Medical Physics & Clinical Engineering Department at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. NUH is the fourth largest acute teaching trust in the UK. The Trust provides a range of regional specialist services and remains at the forefront of clinical research.
The Bone Densitometry Service runs on both the City Hospital and Queen's Medical Centre Campuses (including the Treatment Centre) and is equipped with 4 GE Lunar iDXA bone densitometers . The service performs a full range of bone densitometry investigations for various specialities within the Trust and for GPs, is part of a fracture liaison service, and supports research studies.
We are seeking to appoint an experienced bone densitometry operator (technologist/ radiographer/ nurse) to this busy clinic. Experience of performing a full range of investigative scans, including vertebral fracture assessment, is desirable.
We welcome applications from any candidates with a science or healthcare Bachelor's degree. Successful applicants with insufficient experience for appointment at Band 6 will be appointed on Annex 21 of Band 6 for a period of training lasting 2 years. During this time you would be expected to complete the Royal Osteoporosis Society National Training Scheme for Bone Densitometry.
The post is a full time role but part time or job share would be considered.

The post holder participates in all technical aspects of the provision of the Bone Densitometry Service and assists with administration. In addition the post holder interprets the results from bone density and morphometry scans to provide an independent diagnostic report to the referrer. In particular, the post holder:
Carries out patient scans.
Analyses patient scans using proprietary computer software.
Interprets analysed scans.
Participates in the administration of the service.
The post holder may be based at either the Queen's Medical Centre Campus or the City Hospital Campus according to the needs of the service but will also carry out duties at the alternate site and the Nottingham Treatment Centre (QMC Campus).
