Therapy Assistant Practitioner: Parkinson's MDT team

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Senior therapy Assistant Practitioner (Band 4) to work within the Parkinson's Therapy Team supporting Physio, Occupational and Speech and Language therapists. You will provide holistic rehabilitation in a predominantly out patients setting to for individuals and their families affected by any form of Parkinsonism. We are looking for an individual with previous experience of Neurological rehabilitation who is enthusiastic, compassionate and resilient to meet the varied demands of the service users and the team. Although predominantly based at City hospital all team members work across sites and in the community as required.

The core hours are Monday to Friday 8am - 4pm. The successful applicant will also be required to work on a rota system to cover weekends and bank holidays.

Main duties of the job

You will have your own caseload and will use your clinical decision making tools to assess and treatment patients under the supervision of a senior therapist. You will work across OT, SLT and Physio professions within the HCOP team as a generic therapy assistant practitioner. This will involve carrying out rehabilitation and treatment and promoting wellbeing, safety and independence within essential activities of daily living. This is a physical clinical role and you will be required to work closely with the senior therapists to discuss your caseload and patient management on a weekly basis.

You will have excellent communication skills and will be required to work closely with the MDT to discuss caseload management.

There will also be non-clinical duties including general admin and housekeeping duties and there will be the requirement to use leadership and management skills to supervise band 2 assistants and band 3 therapy support workers.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and conscientious team player with the ability to use their initiative, work flexibly and be self -motivated, who can demonstrate excellent communication skills.

You must have a NVQ /QCF Level 3 in healthcare or an equivalent GCSE grades A-C or equivalent in Maths and English. You must also have experience of working in therapies within a care setting at a band 3 level or equivalent.
