Main duties of the job

Phlebotomy is the skill of obtaining a blood sample by using varying techniques and equipment, whilst following trust guidance and policy.

The teams provide a warm and welcoming supportive learning environment and share a wealth of experience and knowledge.

Previous experience working as a Phlebotomist is not required as full supervised training will be provided.

Excellent communication skills along with a pleasant , friendly and understanding disposition are essential for this role and previous experience of working with the general public would be an advantage.

This role will require the post holder to wear personal, protective, equipment (PPE) including masks, aprons and gloves as per trust guidance.

You must be able to work in a fast paced, high demand environment which sees a high turn over of patients daily.

Essential

  • GCSE grades A-C or equivalent in English and Maths.

Desirable

  • venepuncture certification or exposure

Experience

Essential

  • You will have a genuine interest in a career working in frontline services for people
  • Knowledge of the Phlebotomy role
  • Able to follow a full venepuncture-training programme

Desirable

  • NHS experience or similar health care environment

Analytical and judgement skills

  • Ability to work under pressure

Desirable

  • Evidence of the ability to work on own initiative

Communication and relationship skills

Essential

  • Computer literate/able to use and enter data on required software
  • Can demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills
