Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a Ward Receptionist to join a diverse and motivated team that are dedicated to the development of skills and the delivery of high quality safe care. The post is on the Fleming ward at Nottingham City Hospital. We are a 31 bedded acute respiratory ward covering arrange of respiratory conditions.

As the Ward Receptionist, you will often be the first point of contact for patients and visitors when entering the unit so a friendly, welcoming smile and excellent communication skills are essential.

Main duties of the job

In addition to below summary, you need to familiarise yourself with the full Job Description and Person Specification documents attached to this advert.

Tasks will include but not be limited to fulfilling all necessary reception, clerical, administrative and general tasks required to facilitate and record patient information using technology systems. Staff are expected to be courteous and considerate at all times and have excellent customer care.

Tasks will also include collecting/taking items to other departments such as pharmacy.

Essential

  • Secondary School standard of education in basic numeracy and literacy.
  • Evidence of personal development in previous employment.

Desirable

  • Competent at using Care Flow System, Nerve centre and Notis.
  • Nationally recognised qualification in basic literacy and numeracy skills.

Experience

Essential

  • Relevant work experience at least 1 Year

Desirable

  • Previous Employment within a Health field or working within a team.
  • Clerical experience.

Communication and Relationship Skills

Essential

  • Able to produce short accurate written messages and effectively communicate with patient, visitors and all levels of staff in a clear articulate way.
  • Good Telephone manner.
  • Friendly and approachable.
  • Trustworthiness and able to maintain strict confidentiality (data protection)

  • Judgement of when to refer issues to relevant senior staff.
  • Good time management and organisational skills.
