Jenner Ward is a speciality ward of Health Care of Older People (HCOP) based in the city campus. We are committed to providing the best care for older people with a stable, well supported and motivated workforce. Main duties of the job
We are looking for registered nurses who are dedicated and committed and have the ability to be part of a team as well as working autonomously to provide high quality dignified care to our patients in a safe environment. Some of our patients will have complex social needs, so we offer training and support to help you to develop your skills in supporting with safe and effective discharge from the hospital and delivering quality care for the duration of our patients stay.
If you possess excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, have the ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team and have a specialist interest in developing the service we provide then please apply, we would be happy to have you as part of our team.
Within HCOP there are opportunities to complete the Frailty module which forms part of the degree pathway which is a new bespoke module focused solely on the older person and the complexities of caring for them and an ageing population. There are also opportunities to progress up the nursing ladder into advanced clinical practitioner roles.

Essential
- Current UK NMC registration
- Competent in Medicines Management
- Experience of delivering nursing care to a group of inpatients
- Supervision of non registered staff including HCAs and Students
- A wider understanding of health care of the older adult nursing
Desirable
- Diploma or Degree in Health / nursing related studies
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Demonstrate an involvement in a link nurse role or project for service improvement
- Experience of a rehabilitation model of nursing
- Experience of working with older adults
Communication and Relationship skills
Essential
- Demonstrates compassionate communication care with frail, older adults
- Demonstrate clear and effective written and verbal communication skills with MDT
- Demonstrates basic IT skills
Desirable
- Demonstrate computer literacy an use of IT skills
- Demonstrate evidence of providing formal teaching sessions
