Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Production Technician to join the Pharmacy team in the Cytotoxic Chemotherapy Production Unit, City Campus, at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH).You will be joining a team of hardworking and dedicated professionals who formulate, prepare and aseptically compound medicines for our most vulnerable patients.

You will support and deputise for the Chief Technician, in all aspects of the management and organization of the department, contributing to service delivery, assisting in forward planning and prioritisation of the work flow and liaising with key service users to ensure provision is appropriate and responsive to their needs.

You will also lead the co-ordination, induction, technical training and validation of all staff working in the Cytotoxic Chemotherapy Production Unit (Cytolab) at Nottingham City Hospital Campus.

Main duties of the job

In addition to the summary below you need to familiarise yourself with the full job description and person specification. This interesting and varied role will require you to process and manufacture a wide range of sterile medicines including chemotherapy and investigational medicinal products for clinical trial patients. Another large element of this job role is to take the lead in co-ordinating, designing and delivering education and training to the team, ensuring all staff are adequately trained to undertake critical processes within their scope of practice. The work will be varied and challenging, working to tight deadlines to achieve targets and respond to patient and customer needs. You should be able work under pressure, prioritise and organise workloads and be able to work alone or as part of a bigger team. We are looking for confident self-motivated individuals with excellent IT, communication, problem solving and decision making skills. You will need to be able to work unsupervised in all aspects of pharmaceutical manufacturing, including: specialist aseptic dispensing, preparation of investigational medicinal products for clinical trial patients and work in specialised cleanroom environments using specialist equipment.

About us

Post holder is required to work flexibly between shift patterns i.e. 07:00 - 15:15 and 08:45 - 17:00, Monday - Friday. As the service develops, you may be required to work a shift system including 7 day working patterns. The department offers a weekend and bank holiday service which you will be expected to participate in.
