Job summary
Due to staff promotion within the team we are offering an exciting opportunity for a dynamic clinical pharmacist to join our well established, friendly, critical care pharmacy team. You will work as part of the team which includes medicines management technicians and assistants delivering advanced level services to our 65 (general and specialist) adult critical care beds , 16 cardiac critical care beds and enhanced peri-operative care units across two campuses.
We work as fully integrated members of the MDT, optimising the pharmaceutical care of critically ill patients, through an active prescribing role and supporting nursing staff in safe and timely drug administration.
Main duties of the job
In this role you will join an established team to deliver advanced pharmacy clinical services to some of our most vulnerable patients on adult critical care including:
- Providing specialist clinical pharmacist service to optimise the pharmaceutical care to critically ill adult patients and those during the perioperative period.
- Identifying and managing risks associated with medicines use in critical care.
- Developing and implementing guidelines and strategies for the safe and effective use of medicines.
- Providing leadership , management and speciality service support roles.
- Participating in our 7 day clinical pharmacy service to Critical care based on the QMC campus.
The post holder will possess a high level of clinical practice experience, with critical care experience at foundation level. They must have good inter-personal communication and problem solving skills and possess a post graduate certificate in clinical pharmacy or equivalent.
The ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team is vital to this role, as is the ability to work pressure and at times emotive environments.
