Job summary
To support the labour suite team and provide reception and administration cover Monday to Sunday 24hrs a day with 12hr shifts. The post holder will need to use their initiative to develop processes and ensure the effective provision of a quality service. In undertaking this role, the employee will be expected to behave at all times that is consistent with and actively supports the Trust values.
Main duties of the job
- Admit, discharge and transfer women to a live bedstate on arrival to the area in a timely manner.
- Greet patients at reception, check their personal details are correct, and if necessary amend accordingly, ensuring patient confidentiality.
- Arrange appointments for follow up clinics, as instructed by the medical/nursing staff. Arrange transport or interpreters if necessary.
- Ensure where appropriate clinic outcomes are recorded accurately on the day
- Notify the labour suite midwives or designated person of any patients who fail to attend their appointment who will take necessary action in line with departmental and/or Trust policies.
- Receive and respond to enquiries from relatives/external agencies adhering to Trust confidentiality guidelines at all times
- Be able to competently use Medway PAS and other information technology systems and participate in training programmes to develop and update personal skills to meet the needs of the department.
Maintain tidy, safe working environment, reporting any hazards or faults timely and appropriately.
- Present a professional, polite and courteous attitude at all times and be appropriately dressed when on duty.
- Undertake any other duties, which may reasonably be required.
- Ensure RTT patient data quality is accurate at all times.
- Active participation in clinical audit where required
- Support the filing and scanning of clinic lists to support governance processes
