Job summary

Working with a vision of "delivering excellence in everything we do", the Lead Nurse will lead and manage the CAS Medical Directorate working alongside the wider management team.The Lead Nurse will be accountable for non-medical care within the directorate with a focus on driving forward patient safety. They will be accountable for the efficient and effective operational management of their specialties guaranteeing provision of high quality evidence based nursing. The Lead Nurse will be a strong clinical leader, easily identifiable, highly visible and accessible to patients, carers and staff. They will have a particular responsibility to support the developments of Clinical Governance, and Service Improvement, to modernize patient services and ensure the active involvement of patients and carers in the way services are developed, delivered and evaluated.In undertaking the duties for this post the post holder must comply with the NMC - 'The Code'.The post holder will be based across City Hospital and the Queen's Medical Centre and will be expected to participate in a trust wide on call rota that ensures there is senior professional leadership for the Trust 7 days per week.

Main duties of the job

Developing a culture within the pathway that facilitates excellent clinical services through patient centered, multi-professional team-based care.

Ensuring that quality of care is assured through strong clinical governance systems and structuring.

Leading the required transformation programme , by analyzing opportunities for change to support the transformational agenda, and by engaging partners, patients and other stakeholders

Developing and modernizing services, working with the CCG and Community Services to address any gaps or inequities in non-elective provision across the health care economy.

The role will also involve working with other lead nurses. The post holder will deputize for the Deputy Divisional Nurse on the delivery of projects across the Division and the Trust. The post will support the operational day to day management of the Division.

To succeed, you will need a strong background in a senior nurse role. You will champion a patient-centered approach, ensuring that your pathways culture and services are well positioned to place patient choice, safety and staff wellbeing at the fore front of developments. In return you will be supported and developed.
