Are you a dietitian with experience in oncology or haematology and a passion for innovating dietetic care? Would you like to maintain your clinical skills while building understanding of research processes? We are offering a unique opportunity to support the clinical delivery of a national prehabilitation trail in acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) and high-risk myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS).
You will be part of a supportive MDT of professionals delivering MDT meetings, online nutrition group support and 1:1 nutrition assessment (where required). You will receive clinical supervision and mentorship by the lead dietitian and support in learning about research processes e.g. governance, data reporting and collection, trial delivery. You will be employed by NUH for your dietetic research hours and work in collaboration with University Hospitals Coventry and Warwick and the University of Warwick as study sponsors. The post holder will work remotely enabling continuation of clinical roles in current locales and we are happy to meet with managers and potential applicants.
Main duties of the job
As well as being in a national multicentre trial, you will be required to have experience of delivering dietetic care to people with cancer. You will need to work with the multidisciplinary team to assess participant requirements and deliver dietary advice and assessments informed by the study protocol. You will engage with other hospital sites to establish links to dietetics departments and support centres with trial processes. You will collect and record trial data relevant to the intervention. You may be asked to support training of other MDT staff in nutrition interventions. Knowledge and experience of audit and service evaluation are essential, but research specific training will be given, and you will be required to undertake Good Clinical Practice training. You will ensure accurate data collection and governance in accordance with research standards, study protocols and local guidelines.
You will work alongside partner organisations with supervision provided by Haematology Research lead dietitian at NUH. The NUH dietetic department is a large and friendly department of around 140 staff including assistants and technicians. As a department we are building our research portfolio to facilitate clinically relevant research questions.
