Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity within A23 emergency gynae and early pregnancy triage /outpatient and inpatient services based at the Queens Medical Centre Campus. We are looking for a receptionist to join the team. You will cover a day 7 a week service which operates over full 24 hours days. This will include weekend and bank holidays. You must be a conscientious and enthusiastic team player with excellent organisational skills. You will need to be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of confidentiality issues, be well motivated and reliable. You will be able to understand and accurately convey verbal and written information and be able to remain calm under pressure.
Use your own initiative and respond to queries within and outside of the Organisation with a professional manner to patients, relatives and staff. You will present a professional and polite attitude at all times.

Working as part of the A23 reception team you will be responsible for greeting patients at reception, checking and updating personal details while maintaining patient confidentiality. Using Medway PAS and other relevant booking systems you will arrange outcome appointments, arrange follow-up appointments, organise outpatient clinic notes and update details accurately and efficiently. You'll have excellent communication skills and will deal appropriately with enquires both by telephone and in person.
You must be educated to GCSE standard, or equivalent possess excellent communication skills and be competent in the use of computers systems including Microsoft packages.

Greet patients at reception, check their personal details are correct, and if necessary amend in Medway PAS accordingly, ensuring patient confidentiality. Attend patients onto the trust bedstate using Nervecentre.
Using Medway PAS or any other relevant electronic booking systems arrange appointments for follow up clinics, as instructed by the medical/nursing staff. Arrange transport as necessary.
Deal appropriately with enquiries from staff and the general public, seeking advice or referring elsewhere if necessary.
Ensure all clinic outcomes are recorded accurately on the day or within the shortest time frame.
Keep personally updated and be able to advise patients in relation to peripheral services available, i.e. transport, interpreting services etc.
Receive and respond to enquiries from relatives/external agencies adhering to Trust confidentiality guidelines at all times
Be able to competently use Medway PAS and other information technology systems and participate in training programmes to develop and update personal skills to meet the needs of the department.
Maintain tidy, safe working environment, reporting any hazards or faults timely and appropriately.
Present a professional, polite and courteous attitude at all times and be appropriately dressed when on duty.
Undertake any other duties, which may reasonably be required.
