Job summary

This is a one year secondment opportunity to lead and develop the systems and process required to implement and evaluate the Accrediting Care Excellence Programme at NUH and establish it as a fundamental part of the NUH Quality Assurance Framework.

This is a key leadership role working on behalf of the Chief Nurse, alongside the Director of Nursing (DoN), Deputy Chief Nurse (DCN) and Assistant Director of Nursing Research, Innovation and Transformation (ADN). The post holder will provide visible and inspirational leadership, having operational responsibility for the development of systems and policies supporting nursing and midwifery (N&M) care excellence across the Trust and within the Institute of Care Excellence. They will have a particular responsibility to develop effective digital systems in relation to care excellence, audit and assurance, as well as deliver effective systems and processes that prioritise, plan, implement and evaluate evidence-based transformation programmes related to the Accrediting Care Excellence Programme and its integration into the evidence and assurance cycle within the Trust.

Main duties of the job

  • Work with the Care Excellence Team within the Institute of Care Excellence to drive and embed the Accrediting Care Excellence (ACE) programme, including accelerating the numbers of accreditation visits.
  • Work with the DoN, DCN, ADN and Head of Quality Assurance & Compliance on the development and implementation of the Trust wide Quality Assurance Framework
  • Work closely with the wider Corporate Nursing Team, Chief Nursing Information Officer, Clinical Divisional Lead Nurses/Director of Midwifery and the wider MDT to develop and evaluate the quality metrics required to enable the auditing for improvement cycle in relation to care excellence across the Trust.
  • Liaise with the Transformation, Clinical Effectiveness, Patient Safety, Governance and the quality assurance and compliance teams to embed the Quality Assurance framework and ACE framework into the and Trust quality and safety agenda.
  • Work with the Divisional Nurses and Head of Midwifery and associated teams to embed the ACE and Quality Assurance Framework and develop mechanisms for harnessing the learning and embedding sustainable change
  • Build further the existing culture amongst nurses and midwives within the Trust of transformation, innovation quality of care awareness and provide support and guidance to develop skills and the application of evidence into clinical practice to create sustainable change.

Essential

  • NMC Registered nurse or midwife
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing/Midwifery OR Master's Degree in Nursing/Midwifery
  • Management Qualification or equivalent level of experience
  • Evidence of completed Masters degree
  • Post graduate teaching and assessing qualification

Desirable

  • oDoctoral Level study (e.g PhD/DHSci)
