Job summary

A vacancy has arisen for a Data Administrator to work within the Neonatal Service.

The successful candidate will be working with Consultants, Senior Doctors and Nursing staff to provide operational, financial and governance support that ensures quality, accurate and timely input of data for capture of income and local and national benchmarking.

Main duties of the job

To provide comprehensive co-ordination of the Neonatal Unit's data collection and audit activities.

The post holder will organise the collection, retrieval and summary presentation of patient data . They will work with Consultants, Senior Doctors and Nursing staff to provide operational, financial andgovernance support that ensures quality, accurate and timely input of data for capture of income and local and national benchmarking.

The post holder will validate patient activity/data information usinga variety of software applications including Microsoft Excel, Unity, Medway Maternity and BadgerNet.

The post holder must be able to communicate well with staff at all levels.

Job description

Job responsibilities

The key job responsibilities for this role are:

Liaise with consultants, senior doctors and nurses to provide operational, financial and governance support that ensures quality, accurate and timely input of data for capture of income and local and national benchmarking.

To organise the retrieval and collection of data from case notes, databases, clinical staff members and other sources as appropriate for completeness of patient episodes.

To maintain a robust and sustainable process is in place for data collection across the units that ensures all income is captured.

Audit and review admission pathways onto Neonatal units at City and QMC campus, ensuring all patients are captured onto Badger Net and have process in place that helps improve quality and timeliness of data input and storage on a database.

To validate patient activity/data information across various computerised database systems with subsequent updating, maintenance and statistical analysis of these systems.

To statistically analyse, present and report data for monthly Divisional performance and other departments using a variety of software applications including Microsoft Excel, Unity, Medway Maternity and BadgerNet.

To support audit projects with data requested internally and externally as appropriate.

To develop and maintain a basic knowledge of the Neonatal Intensive care and the major conditions and categories and interventions.

To liaise with other departments both within the Trust and as part of the Trent Perinatal Network where appropriate e.g. service departments and other clinical specialities.

To produce reports for internal and external organisations with regard to clinical governance.

To be responsible for maintaining an accurate and up to date knowledge of all national guidelines and standards relating to Neonatal specialty and ensuring that the service are working to achieve them.

To facilitate staff usage of internal database.

The successful applicant will have extensive and demonstrable knowledge of IT software programmes including all Microsoft applications. They will have a good understanding of data management and previous experience of managing datasets.

The post holder will be an enthusiastic and conscientious team player and be able to work under pressure with excellent time management and organisational skills. They will have an eye for detail and able to stick to deadlines. They will be expected to work on their own initiative ensuring the team is supported and is running smoothly and efficiently.
