Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Quality, Risk and Safety (Governance) team for Maternity as an Incident and Risk Lead on a full time, permanent basis. NUH maternity services care for more than 8000 women and babies per year as a tertiary referral unit for fetal medicine. Working as part of a team you will take an active role in supporting the Maternity Quality, Risk & Safety (QRS) team and using your knowledge and experience by ensuring effective systems and processes for incident and risk reporting are managed effectively. This role includes the day to day management and leadership of the Incident & Risk team and you will offer support and guidance to ensure there is continued progress and development of the wider Patient Safety agenda, as well as being responsive to changes that are derived nationally. You will also support the Maternity QRS Team to promote efficiency in clinical governance performance as well as making a positive contribution to the work of the team.

Main duties of the job

You will need to be an individual who enjoys collaborative working and is committed to continuous quality improvement and patient safety to positively impact on organisational learning & culture.

You will provide key leadership experience within this team and will focus on;

  • Providing advice and support to the Incident & Risk team and the Divisional Quality, Risk & Safety team on all issues relating to Patient Safety.
  • To develop quality improvement procedures for the management of action plans and outcomes.
  • Support early learning following inspections and regulatory visits to include responding to immediate concerns with incident and risk management.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of the Trust's Patient Safety annual plans, ensuring priorities and deliverables support the achievement of the Trust's objectives.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure they receive assurance regarding progress on a regular basis.
  • Write robust reports identifying achievable and effective actions that translate into improvements with learning and safety in Maternity Services.
  • Develop and maintain effective working processes to ensure the early stage after an incident includes undertaking early analysis of timelines in clinical areas.
  • To provide analysis related intelligence to support organisational learning and improvement.
