Head of Information Governance

East Midlands Imaging Network - EMRAD are looking to recruit a highly motivated Head of Information Governance to join our team.

The post holder will lead the Information Governance service to ensure the Imaging network has a single, managed, and co-ordinated approach to the implementation of Information Governance initiatives that are required to maintain the robust governance of the collaboration of 8 Trusts with a shared PACS system. They will be responsible for ensuring the Imaging Network is compliant with NHS regulations, legal requirements, and best practice on information governance.

You will have a strong knowledge and understanding of NHS governance processes. You will be an effective leader, able to bring excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills to the role and quickly establish your credibility with both internal and external stakeholders. Your ability to contribute to the development of and implementation of the Imaging Networks strategic vision for information will be essential to your success in this role.

Main duties of the job

Strategic

  • Lead and take overall responsibility for Information Governance services ensuring effective delivery of service and legislation at all times within the EMRAD Imaging Network
  • Work in a strong and effective corporate manner, working with key stakeholders to ensure programme development and generate highly effective outcomes in a politically sensitive and contentious environment
  • To deputise for the EMRAD Network Director as required and takes overall responsibility as required.

Operational Activity

To be accountable and take the lead role on a day to day basis for the following key areas (not limited to):

Regulatory Compliance

To lead and co-ordinate an Information Governance continuous improvement work programme within the Imaging Network in relation to;

  • Code of Confidentiality (Caldicott, Data Protection, Access to Health Records).
  • Records Management (Corporate Information Assurance).
  • Information Security Assurance (BS7799 / ISO17799).
  • Communications, Training and Awareness.

Data Security & Protection Toolkit - To support the EMRAD Imaging Network to ensure the collection of high quality evidence for all DSPT assertions, support high-level plans to rectify any shortcomings, and monitor completion.

GDPR/DPA.

Serious data breaches - Ensure that serious breaches (and NIS incidents) are identified, reported and investigated, and any recommendations/actions.

The EMRAD Head of Information Governance will work with the EMRAD Network Director and Medical Director to update and develop all co ordinating agreements, SOPS and Data Privacy Impact Assessments to ensure a GDPR compliant Imaging network and ensuring optimal adherence to national guidelines.

As part of the EMRAD Team the post-holder is responsible for the implementation of IG initiatives, in line with the EMRAD Imaging Network's IG Assurance Framework, and statutory/legislative requirements.

The post holder will be able to work flexibly in line with the needs of the service and work across all internal and external locations as required.

IG Training

Ensure appropriate content is developed and maintained in compliance with national and legal requirements, which is of value to the EMRAD Imaging Network.

Complete an IG training needs analysis annually for relevant EMRAD Imaging Network staff and for those in specialist roles, e.g. IAOs/IAAs.

Produce management reports for the EMRAD Information Governance /Operational and Management Boards.

IAO Support

Ensure that IAOs/IAAs and EMRAD DPOs have appropriate support and guidance to enable them to:

  • Maintain information assets.
  • Complete data flow mapping.
  • Complete data sharing agreements, as required.

Procurement/ Contracts/Due Diligence

  • Ensure that tender documentation contains specific IG-related requirements, as required.
  • Ensure that IG due diligence is completed for all suppliers that process EMRAD Imaging Network personal data.
  • Provide support and guidance to ensure that Data Processing Agreements are in place where suppliers process EMRAD Imaging Network personal data.

Leadership

  • Provide strong and visible leadership across the EMRAD Imaging Network.
  • To be a core member of the EMRAD Management Team.
  • Working closely with managers throughout the service to drive through the delivery of ambitious targets to continually improve performance within the service.
  • To contribute as expert lead and advisor in large, complex projects.
